Colors of light - type and purpose

Some time ago, when we chose the type of lighting for our house or apartment, we paid attention only to the shape and form of lamps and the power of light bulbs. Today, due to the increasing choice of types of lighting - we attach importance not only to the power of incandescent bulbs, halogen lamps, LED lamps or fluorescent lamps. We also apply weight to the color of light.

What is the color of light and why is it so important? If we wanted to present the topic briefly: we have a choice of warm, neutral or cold light. Contrary to appearances, what color of light we choose to illuminate our home, affects not only the appearance of interiors and objects. The type of lighting also affects our well-being.

The color of the light is determined by means of the color temperature, which is given in Kelvin (K) - and is denoted as TC. According to specialists, when the color temperature is less than 3300K, we deal with warm light, 4000K natural white, while light with a color temperature over 5000K is cold light. The lower the temperature of light, the more similar it is to the light of a fire, for example a candle. The higher the color temperature, the more light reminds us of lightning. What does this mean for us? In some rooms, such as our home office or children's room, we want lighting that will make our concentration easier. In work and study places, it is best to choose cold light. For example: 4000 K, this is a white and therefore neutral mark. 5000 K, is a cool white light, resembling a fluorescent lamp. 6500 K, however, is the light most similar to daylight. In a child's room, in the place where one learns, it is best to choose light with a color temperature of 6,500 K - even up to 10,000 K, most similar to the color of pure blue sky. The same applies to our workplace.

In the bedroom or living room, however, we most preferably choose the light with the lowest color temperature, and therefore warm light. Warm light, and therefore between 2700 K and 3300 K, allows us to relax and unwind better. Lighting of other rooms is a matter of individual taste. For some of us, the kitchen is a place where meals are made and food is stored, so we prefer to be illuminated in a neutral or cool way. For those who spend a lot of time in the kitchen due to culinary passion - carefully preparing meals, preserves and delicacies - we recommend warm light, which is best associated with home atmosphere, with such a color also better food products. Similarly, we can say about the bathroom - when it is for us another point on the map of the rooms in which we relax every day, put on warm light, for example, warm-white light with a color temperature of 2700-3000 K, the closest to the "antique" today's light bulbs, otherwise you can successfully apply cold light.
