STILNOVO LAMPIATTA 8971, 8972, 8973 is the definition of 1970s Italian design, returning in a masterful re-edition. Designed in 1971 by the legendary trio of architects – Jonathan De Pas, Donato D’Urbino, and Paolo Lomazzi – this lamp is more than just lighting. It is a manifesto of the Pop-Art era, combining raw geometry with functional brilliance. Its minimalist form, resembling a motorcycle helmet shell or a technical machine part, has been stripped of unnecessary ornamentation to focus on pure form and perfect light.
Lampiatta ("Flat lamp") stands out with its characteristic parabolic shade, which completely changes the way an interior is illuminated. The construction of the shade was designed to work with "silver bowl" type bulbs (with a silvered dome). Light does not fall directly on the user but is directed onto the white, internal finish of the shade, and then softly diffused throughout the room. The result is a cozy atmosphere without the risk of glare, which is rare in lamps with such an open construction. Lampiatta is a chameleon adapting to the needs of the space. It can function as a distinct sconce in a bedroom (e.g., over a bedside table) or hallway, or as a compact ceiling light in lower rooms where every centimeter of space counts.
Iconic color palette: The lamp is available in three original finishes that define the vintage style and fit modern arrangements:
Unlike many historical models made of plastics, the contemporary Stilnovo re-edition prioritizes durability and noble materials. The lamp body is made of high-gloss lacquered aluminum, which gives it a luxurious character, ensures perfect light reflection, and guarantees the longevity of the product.
Will the lamp light up the whole room well?
As a ceiling light, Lampiatta provides wide, diffused reflected light. It is ideal as general lighting in smaller rooms and hallways, or as atmospheric supplementary lighting in large living rooms. Thanks to its construction, it does not create harsh shadows.
Which bulb is best for this lamp?
To achieve the effect planned by the designers, we recommend using LED E27 "Silver Bowl" type bulbs (with a mirrored dome). Thanks to this, the light reflects perfectly off the white interior of the shade, maximizing luminous efficiency and the aesthetics of the fixture.
